Massachusetts Unemployment Insurance benefits is an option for unemployed residents who have lost employment through no fault of their own. In MA, the state offers compensation benefits for by providing insurance. These benefits are set by both Federal policy and State law.

State benefits are generally offered for a 26 week maximum. The State of Mass will compensate you for 50% percent of the wage amount you've previously earned (when choosing tiers).

Those who have exhausted the new federal update of benefits in MA are entitled to extended tier 5 benefits or extension IF the rate is higher than usual.

Under these circumstances, the EB benefits program in actually provides up to 13 extra weeks of compensation. As of 2012, Massachusetts has implemented a voluntary program to compensate another 7 weeks all the way up to 20 weeks at maximum working benefits (see more on 99er benefits).
